1. Historical Roots: The Central Labor Union inaugurated Labor Day on September 5, 1882, in New York City. This federal holiday was later established in 1894 as a way of honoring the achievements of workers and the labor movement.

2. End of Hot Dog season. Labor Day is the unofficial end of the hot dog season. According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Americans eat 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

3. Guinness Record Grill: Not confined to the United States, Labor Day also made its mark in Ireland with the Big Grill Festival. This event holds the record for the world's largest barbecue and often coincides with the holiday weekend.

4. International Worker Solidarity: While the United States observes Labor Day in September, numerous countries across the globe commemorate International Workers' Day, widely known as May Day, on May 1st.
