Jeep® and Ram Take Home a Trunk Full of Trophies at 2015 'Mudfest'
It’s easy to boast about award-winning capability, but it’s another thing to go out and do it. But that’s exactly what Jeep® and Ram Truck brand models did at the 21st annual “Mudfest” competition, which was recently held by the Northwest Automotive Press Association.
FCA USA models earned top honors in each of their respective categories, with the 2015 Cherokee voted winner of the Family Utility class; the 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel named winner in the Pickups category; and the 2015 Ram Power Wagon voted winner of the Extreme Capability class.
Despite being new to the scene, the 2015 Jeep Renegade picked up two awards of its own. It was named winner of the Compact Utility class and also had the honor of being named 2015 Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year.
Edging out the competition is never easy, but each model was helped along by their strength, rugged character, and outstanding capability—all qualities Jeep and Ram Truck models have become famous for.
As its name suggest, Mudfest is a grueling annual event held in the Pacific Northwest. This year, more than 20 NWAPA automotive journalists spent two days vigorously evaluating vehicles on paved and off-road routes. A total of 27 vehicles from 21 manufacturers were tested to select winners in six categories: compact utility, family utility, premium compact utility, premium standard utility, pickups and extreme capability vehicles.
“This annual competition sets the bar for outdoor activity vehicle buyers in not only the Northwest, but the entire country,” said Nik Miles, president of NWAPA in a press release. “The journalists push vehicles to their limits; this competition is not for the meek and faint of heart. FCA came to the table ready for a tough fight and they played rough and tough, driving away with a trunk full of trophies.”
