Innovative Power

Buyers can choose from six incredibly talented models of the new RAM 1500: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Laramie Longhorn®, and Limited. With all of these, RAM set out to make this generation’s 1500 the brass ring of brawn with best-in-class towing and class-exclusive powertrain tech that makes this the strongest and most capable RAM 1500 ever built.

This 1500 is built on solid bones. With a frame built out of 98% high-strength steel—more than any other previous generation—drivers will enjoy uncompromising stiffness and durability. In addition, RAM engineers have included a revolutionary eTorque system, which replaces the traditional alternator with a 48-volt battery-powered, belt-driven motor generator to improve overall power and efficiency. Combine these together, and the 2020 RAM 1500 can haul up to 2,300 pounds of payload and tow up to 12,750 pounds of trailering weight, more than any other competitor with a V8 engine.

Combine that eTorque Mild Hybrid System with the available 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine, and you’ll notice that enhanced power and efficiency right away. The HEMI V8 with eTorque puts out an unstoppable 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, just like the same Hemi V8 engine without eTorque, but it gets an enviable 23 mpg on the highway in the 4x2 version and a close-second 22 mpg on the highway in the 4x4 version.**

For those who don’t need to move the entire world, RAM also offers a less beefy but more fuel-conscious powertrain as standard on most trim levels. The upgraded 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 also uses the eTorque system combined with the class-exclusive standard TorqueFlite® eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver plenty of power without guzzling gas. Combined with modern engine tech like wide-range variable valve timing and two-step variable valve lift, this V6 keeps the top-tier party going with best-in-class V6 horsepower at 305, best-in-class 4x4 fuel economy at 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, and best-in-class 4x4 driving range at up to 624 miles on a single tank. The 4x2 version gets even better fuel economy at 20 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway.** Throw in a still-admirable max towing capacity of 7,730 pounds, and you’ve got one heck of a weekend trip to the lake house.

Advanced Technology

In addition to class-exclusive performance tech—like the aforementioned eTorque Mild Hybrid system, active front air dam, and Active-Level™ Four Corner Air Suspension—this latest generation 1500 moves mobility into modernity with impressive technology on the exterior and interior as well.

On the outside, of course, it offers modern LED headlamps. But it also offers another class-exclusive feature: RamBox® Cargo Management System with two lockable, drainable storage bins with LED lighting (pictured above) and a 115-volt power outlet, controlled remotely via the key fob. Imagine showing up to tailgate at the big game with wheel-wells full of iced-down beverages. You can also enjoy the available power side running boards and power-release tailgate with key fob control.

In the cab, RAM engineers aimed for the most technologically advanced interior on the road. The largest-in-class 12-inch touchscreen takes center stage, providing state-of-the-art connectivity with the fourth-generation Uconnect® infotainment suite. You can touch it, pinch it, swipe it, and control it just like a modern tablet. And you can sync it to your device (via Bluetooth® or Apple CarPlay®) or connect to satellite radio to enjoy streaming seemingly endless tunes while you attack the road. Plus, imagine the immaculate sound experience you’ll get with the available interior active noise cancellation system combined with the available 900-watt, 19-speaker premium sound system from harman/kardon®.

We’re not done yet. Behind the wheel, the 7-inch Driver Information Digital Cluster Display presents driving telemetry in beautiful full-color, high-definition 3D graphics. And inside the reconfigurable center console, you’ll find more class-exclusive tech, like Type-C USB high-speed charging ports.

Finally, no modern vehicle would be complete without the latest in safety technology. The 2020 RAM 1500 offers over 100 standard and available features for both safety and security. For example, Blind Spot Monitoring may not come as a surprise, but this 1500 feature can automatically account for the length of an attached trailer. Other available safety features include the modern active driver-assistive features we all want in a 2020 vehicle, like LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist.
